1. Transition
Select One: A durable stainless tube which allows for the mechanical and electrical attachment of the lead wire to the metal sheathed, minerally insulated thermocouple probe. 

2. Calibration
Select One: Maximum temperature limits for each ANSI type thermocouple materials are given (see “more info” button), however these will vary depending on sheath materials, application atmospheres, wire gauge size, insulating materials and epoxy composition.

3. Junction
Tip Style: Tip style defines the surface area or shape of the thermocouple sensing tip, i.e. round tip (std), flat tip, drill point tip (118 deg), etc., which is determined by your application process.  The type junction again is determined by the application, i.e., ungrounded for process noise isolation, longer life, whereas, in general a grounded junction provides a compromise between performance (fast response) and thermocouple life.  Each style and type of junction has its advantages and disadvantages see “more info” button for specific information.

4. Element Type
Select One: Up to three separate thermocouples in a single sheath.  Separate ungrounded junctions can be wired to different instruments.

5. Sheath Operating Temperature
Select One: The maximum temperature of the application affects the calibration, size (diameter) and material of the sensor we select.

6. Sheath Material
Select One: The application dictates the choice of sheath materials.  304SS and 316SS are most commonly used but temperatures and corrosive conditions can necessitate the use of other materials.

7. Sheath Diameter
Select One: The Mineral Insulated thermocouples come in a number of sizes but the choice is greatly influenced by the maximum temperature of the application.  For high temp applications bigger is better.

8. Sheath Length "L"
Enter Inches: Although the accuracy of the thermocouple is not affected by the length of the sheath consult the factory when the probe length exceeds 120 inches.

9. Leadwire Construction
Material: Know the application atmosphere and limitations – temperature, moisture, corrosion and abrasion.  Flexible wire is available in solid or stranded conductors with many sizes (gauge), insulations and calibrations to meet nearly all applications.

10. Leadwire Gauge
Select One: Insulated wire, solid or stranded, in a variety of insulations is carried in the most common sizes from 16 to 24 gauge.

11. Leadwire Length "A"
Enter Inches: There is no limit to the leadwire length however when the distance to the instruments is 150 feet or more a 4-20ma signal conditioner is recommended.

12. Leadwire Terminations
Select One: The type of termination selected may be restricted by the wire gauge.

13. Fittings
Select Type: Fittings of all thread sizes, materials and design are available for most applications.

14. Fitting Location "F"
Enter inches from tip ( "N" for None, "L" for Loose) Measured from the first thread to the tip of the sheath.  Allow for the thread-in insertion length of the fitting when determining location.

16. Bend Angle
Select One: Mineral insulated thermocouples should not be bent on a radius smaller than twice the outside sheath diameter.

17. Bend Location "C"
Enter inches from tip ( "N" for None ) There are minimum bend locations for all Mineral Insulated sensors – dependent on sheath diameter.
